Their
products
are biologically rich food that can be sold as a functional food in
this
rapidly growing global market.
While the
Grays have worked hard to completely change their farming system, this
has not
been at the expense of time spent with their three boys Liam, Keagan
and
Hamish, or with their local community.
They see
an
active community and family life as being an important part of the
holistic
farming philosophy.
Six years
into
completely changing the way they farm, and more importantly the way
they think
about farming, the Grays have no regrets.
They
acknowledge it requires a long-term commitment, but they see it as a
highly
sustainable way of farming, even though they have quite literally had
to go
back to grass roots.
They have
also
learnt and continue to learn a great deal about soils, animal and human
health,
food and food production.
What they
have lost in production they have made up for by
producing a high quality product that is attracting a significant
premium and
importantly feel very comfortable on the path they have chosen to take.
